The Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, has donated quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for distribution to residents of the Atwima Hall on the main Campus of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED).

The donation was the Chief’s contribution to the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus Disease in the University. It included 3000 pieces of nose masks and about 50 mini bottles of hand sanitizer.

Presenting the PPEs on February 26, 2021, on behalf of Nana Brempong II, the Akyeamehene of the Atwima Traditional Area, Nana Teku Owusu-Ansah II, emphasised the importance that the Atwima Traditional Council attaches to the wellbeing of residents of the Atwima Hall. He said it was out of that concern that the Atwimahene went out of his way to purchase the PPEs for the Hall Residents. The Akyeamehene hinted that the Atwimahene was considering other areas to lend a hand to protect the Hall Residents in this COVID-19 era.

Therefore, he encouraged residents to pay heed to the various COVID-19 preventive protocols so they would protect themselves from being infected. He also indicated the Atwimahene’s happiness to support the Hall with the PPEs, assuring them of his (Nana’s) continued efforts in seeking resources to augment the University’s efforts to expand the Atwima Hall to accommodate more Hall affiliates. He indicated the Atwimahene’s interest in helping to establish a library for the Hall.

Receiving the items, the Atwima Hall Manageress, Mrs. Akua Ahyia Adu-Oppong expressed profound gratitude to Atwimahene for the kind gesture. “These items will help to prevent the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic to this Hall and the University in general,” she observed and added that the donation would have a positive impact on teaching and learning as well. She assured the benefactor that the Hall Administration would ensure that the PPEs would get to the students to realise the intended purpose. For educational establishments like AAMUSTED to develop, Mrs. Adu-Oppong called for collaboration with capable individuals.

The Atwimahene has a long-standing relationship with the Atwima Hall of AAMUSTED that has resulted in the Chief sponsoring several projects in the Hall including the erection of a well-furnished Hall Secretariat and an electronic sign-board.
