Dr. Asanga Reginald Taluah, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies (DIS), Faculty of Education and General Studies (FEGS) of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED – Mampong Campus), has been awarded the Outstanding Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Dissertation Prize for 2020 and 2021 by the Fachverband Afrikanistik e.V (German Association of African Linguistics).

A jury comprising members from all the African Studies Institutes in the German-speaking area selected Dr. Taluah’s PhD Dissertation – Grandmasters of the Drum: A Literary Linguistic Analysis of the Dagbamba Panegyrics – as the best in the last two years.

Accordingly, he received a cash prize and a certificate of recognition for the sterling work at a special award ceremony in Leipzig, Germany, on May 5, 2023, under the auspices of the Afrakanistik innestag Conference 2023, (May 4-6, 2023).

He won a DAAD PhD scholarship to pursue his doctorate in Literary Linguistics at the University of Cologne, Germany, from 2017 to 2020, where he graduated with distinction in his PhD Defense.

Dr. Taluah teaches courses and researches in English Education, Stylistics, Literary Studies, Anthropological Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Comparative Literature, Oral Literature, and African Studies.

Dr. Taluah is also a poet who has performed on national and international platforms.
