OVERVIEW OF THE INSTITUTE

The Institute of Entrepreneurial Development Education and Innovation is responsible for providing Entrepreneurial Development Training and Education in the University.

The Institute was established in October 2023 to provide both staff and students with entrepreneurial skills development and innovation to serve as an incubation hub for start-up enterprises and assist existing SMEs and the informal sector businesses in the field of entrepreneurship craftmanship.

The Institute is made up of a directorate which is led by a director at the level of a dean and three centres which are led by the head of the centre. The three centres are:

  • Centre for Business Incubation and Innovation
  • Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Education
  • Centre for Arts & Crafts Skills Training and Development

To be a national global leader in fostering and developing socially responsible Entrepreneurship Education and innovation in higher learning with strong linkages with Industry and the community for job creation and economic development.

MISSION STATEMENT

  • To train and provide relevant entrepreneurial development teachers and other professionals for TVET Institutions and industry to promote research and innovation for entrepreneurial educational policy and economic development,
  • Become a top resource centre for research and knowledge management relating to various aspects of entrepreneurship,
  • Promote socially responsible entrepreneurship through TVET education and capacity-building training for institutions in the field of entrepreneurship educational policy and national development.
  • Assist existing SMEs, family-managed businesses, and informal sector businesses to improve their entrepreneurial capabilities and develop trainers in entrepreneurship for national development
  • Assist entrepreneurship with a focus on innovation and incubation for start-up Enterprises
