The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has presented a brand-new Royal Super Motorcycle to Mr. Kofi Karikari, a former member of staff, in recognition of his dedication and sacrifices in driving several AAMUSTED vehicles away to safety during a devastating fire outbreak on December 22, 2022, to minimise the extent of damage the University could have suffered.

The raging fire of that fateful day, razed down the University’s Old Auditorium and part of the transport yard at the Kumasi campus and burnt some vehicles.

Recounting the incident, during a brief presentation of the motorbike, on February 6, 2026, the Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Michael Kofi Twum-Ampomah, recalled Mr. Karikari’s sacrifice in abandoning his motorbike to burn while he hurried about saving the University’s vehicles.

Mr. Twum-Ampomah highly commended Mr. Karikari for the distinguished services he rendered to the University over several decades and extended the University’s gratitude to him for his act of bravery in the face of the fire outbreak.
