A three-member delegation from the Asociación de Profesores de Automoción de Galicia (APAGA) – Association of Automotive Teachers Association of Galicia (AATA) – in Spain, has visited the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED) in Kumasi as part of ongoing efforts to foster international collaborations between the two institutions.
APAGA is an important organisation for professional training and vocational improvement in the Galician automotive sector. It focuses principally on quality training for apprentices, electric vehicle technology, and improving competitiveness in Vocational Training (FP).
The delegates, comprising the Association’s President, Jesus Joaquin Sanchez Cobarro, and two others – Carlos Alberca Piñeiro and Raul Alcazar Martínez, used the March 7-14, 2026 visit to acquaint themselves with relevant programmes curricular, facilities including workshops, tools, and equipment, and to engage with the USTED Management and staff towards formalising relations with USTED.

A team of USTED Management Members and staff are also expected to visit Spain in the near future to complete the required processes to operationalise the relationship between the two institutions.
Welcoming the delegation to USTED on March 9, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, noted that APAGA’s visit was a clear demonstration of the Association’s enthusiasm to work with USTED. He assured the delegation, that USTED was equally optimistic about the prospects of strengthening the partnership with APAGA.
He indicated that the collaboration with APAGA would enhance teaching and practical training at USTED, adding that the University would diligently fulfil its obligations once the partnership was formally established and operationalised.
Prof. Sarfo expressed the hope that the necessary processes would be expedited to enable both parties to begin reaping the anticipated mutual benefits of the collaboration.
The Directorate of Research, International Programmes and Institutional Advancement (DRIPIA) and the Faculties of Engineering and Technology (FET), and Technical Education (FTE) are spearheading the collaboration with APAGA on behalf of USTED.
