The Institute of Entrepreneurial Development Education and Innovation (IEDEI) at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has officially inaugurated an Entrepreneurship Club to groom students of the University for future business leadership and innovation.
The Entrepreneurship Club is one of the initiatives by AAMUSTED to equip students with entrepreneurial skills, knowledge, and mindset. That aligns with a mandate of the University to provide higher education in technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial training to develop skilled professionals for job creation and economic development to foster sustainable development.
Chairing the impressive inauguration ceremony on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fredrick Kwaku Sarfo on August 17, 2024, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Boateng, expressed excitement about the eventual inauguration of the Club. He emphasized that the Club was a platform for students to develop business ideas, gain valuable skills, and network with industry professionals.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed the vital role of entrepreneurship in a fast-paced world, stating that in a constantly evolving sector, the capacity to think creatively and embrace innovation is paramount. He underscored the importance of fostering entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability to stay ahead in an era of rapid change and technological advancements.
Four celebrated entrepreneurs made presentations at the ceremony, sharing their experiences, challenges, and successes in the entrepreneurial world.
One of them, Mr. Prince Osei Tutu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of POTSEC, CEAPOT, and GLOFPOT, and AAMUSTED Alumni, challenged the participants to focus their entrepreneurship efforts on impacting lives by identifying problems and finding sustainable solutions to them. Another, Mr. Dennis Appiah Larbi Ampofo, CEO of AFRACUP, encouraged the participants to be more creative and innovative in their entrepreneurial journey. He said every entrepreneur faced some failures in their work, but with resilience, many pulled through to become successful.
The other two speakers, Mr. Derrick Boateng, CEO of L. B. Services, and Nana Afia Boakye Tsikata, CEO of BACNOF Schools and Female Entrepreneurs Global, also inspired the participants to explore their entrepreneurial potential. Nana Tsikata, for instance, told the participants that their ability to adapt and innovate would set them apart as successful entrepreneurs. She encouraged them to take risks, embrace change, and never stop learning as entrepreneurs. Her presentation focused on the importance of innovation and resilience in entrepreneurship.
The unveiling of the Club Logo, designed to symbolise the entrepreneurs’ spirit, problem-solving, and unity, was a highlight of the ceremony.
Also present at the event were Mr. Eric Agyemang Badu, Manager of Ecobank, Tanaso Branch; Dr. Prince Gyimah, Senior Lecturer; Mrs. Getrude Effe Brew, Head of Counseling Section; Mr. Donald Kwame Asiedu, Senior Assistant Registrar, Dr. Lydia Takyi, Head, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Education (CEDE) and Mrs. Richmell Baaba Amanamah.
