The Faculty of Technical Education (FTE) has been in existence since 2013/2014 Academic Year when the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education was split into two faculties.
In the 2019/2020 Academic year, the Faculty of Technical Education was split into two again, a new Faculty (Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics Education) was thus created out of this faculty to begin in the 2020/2021 Academic year.
The Vision of the Faculty is to become an outstanding centre for the training of Technical Teachers and Industrial Experts in the West African Sub-region.
To equip students with the necessary academic and professional competencies and skills through the use of innovative techniques to enable them teach effectively in pre-tertiary and Tertiary institutions and their respective industrial fields as well as conduct research, disseminate knowledge and contribute to technical policy development.
The Faculty is headed by a Dean with a Faculty Officer, Faculty Accountant and a Junior Assistant Registrar.
The Faculty oversees three departments with their Heads of Department, Senior Assistant Registrars and Junior Assistant Registrars. The Faculty is located on the ground floor of Construction Block at AAMUSTED.
As part of strengthening the research and innovation, the Faculty of Technical Education on 29th October, 2021 signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the following research institutions and professional bodies:
- Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG)
- Building and Road Research Institute (BRRI)
- Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET, GH)
The Faculty of Technical Education can boast of Five (5) state of the art laboratories/workshops, namely:
- Construction laboratory/workshop
- Wood laboratory/workshop
- Mechanical laboratory/workshop
- Automotive laboratory/workshop
- Electrical and electronics laboratory/workshop
