Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo is the foundation Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED and a member of the Governing Council. The Center for Instructional Psychology and Technology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (KU Leuven), trained Instructional Design and Technology Expert has decades of career experience in teaching, rising to the peak of the academic ladder as a professor. He is a visiting scholar/ professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, KU Leuven and other highly reputed universities in Ghana and abroad. He is reputed for his exemplary involvement in several internationally sponsored research and development programmes particularly at UEW, either as a researcher or resource person.
He has attended, participated, and presented papers at both international and local conferences. Some of his research works have been published in journals of high impact factor, international encyclopedia, and other scientific books of readings. He is an editor and executive peer reviewer for a lot of international and local journals.
He has been active in serving as a Technical Committee Member and a Member of Advisory Boards to a lot of international associations and conferences. He has also been active in several professional, community, and government services in Ghana. Thus, becoming accustomed to the germane workings in industry where he is widely connected and leverages it amply to the advantage of the University.
He is also an astute administrator who has occupied various positions in his illustrious life as a university staff. He has served as an academic counselor, Head of Departments, Vice Dean and Dean of Faculties, Acting Principal and Substantive Principal of the erstwhile College of Technology Education Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Acting Vice-Chancellor and ultimately the Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED.
He has been instrumental in sourcing funding from international organisations to support the academic and related activities of the University. His deals with the European Commission, the GIZ’s Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI), and the Lenus Palme Partnership Foundation readily come to mind.
Prof. Sarfo’s research interest is in integrating ICT into education, Instructional Design for learning in a difficult situation, Instructional Conceptions, and designing competency-based learning environments for developing technical and vocational expertise.
