The Faculty of Business Education (FBE) recently organised an innovation and design contest to foster creativity and entrepreneurial spirit among students. The event, featured different teams from the Department of Human Resource Management and Business Strategy (HRMBS) and the Department of Management Studies Education (DMSE) of the FBE.

‘The Innovation and Design Thinking Angel Contest,’ was to assess the students after they completed an Innovation and Design Thinking Management course. It was also to encourage the students to create new things and stimulate their thinking process.  The students, thus, presented their innovative solutions to real-world challenges, focusing on sustainability, technology, and social impact.

Prof. Idris Faisal, Dean of the FBE, opened the event with an inspiring keynote address that highlighted the importance of innovation to the modern world. According to him, “Innovation is not just about technology, it is about thinking differently and finding solutions to problems.” He was of the view that the contest would provide students with the platform to showcase their talent and foster a spirit of networking and collaboration among participants.

The Dean of FBE and a Lecturer at the Faculty, Dr. Courage S.K Dogbe, handled the Innovation and Design Thinking Management course and played the pivotal role in organizing the contest.

Over 20 groups from the Human Resource and Management Studies Departments of FBE participated in the contest, each of them presenting a unique concept to a panel of judges for assessment and selecting the best three teams for originality, practicality, and presentation skills. Each of the best three teams was presented with a certificate.

Ing. Pius Nyuykonge Lukong, Halmstad University, Sweden, and Dr. Lydia Takyi, Ag Head of Center for Entrepreneurial Development congratulated all participants for their creative works and also promised to support the innovators to further develop their products and aid them in pitching to potential investors.

In attendance were Prof. Humphrey Danso, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and other Lecturers of the FBE, including Dr. Courage S.K Dogbe, Dr. Richard Dankwa, and Dr. Prince Gyimah.
