Welcome to the Department of Electrical & Electronic Technology Education (DEETE) at Akenten Appiah-Menkah University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Develolpment (AAMUSTED). The discipline of Electrical and Electronic engineering and technology pervades every aspect of modern society and continues to be the cornerstone of rapid technological advances that improves the quality of life in this millennium. AAMUSTED’s DEETE strives to be at the forefront of engineering and technology education to equip our students to be engineering leaders in training institutions, industry, research, and entrepreneurship.
Courses are available at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Department. DEETE provides two full-time and two sandwich degree programs at the undergraduate level. All of them feature curricula that allow students to create customized programs out of a specified collection of courses that are tailored to their interests and career objectives. Various project courses provide an emphasis on engineering design. Two Diploma programmes are also offered in Electrical and Electronics engineering.
At the postgraduate level, the Department offers two research degrees, Master of Philosophy (MPhil), in Electrical power Engineering and Master of Technology (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
DEETE is a Department that focuses on research. Our teachers, research staff, and students are working on cutting-edge research projects in a variety of fields. Communications & Networks; Intelligent Control; Power & Energy Systems; and Machine Intelligence are among them. To facilitate students’ practical activities, the Department has well-equipped workshops with trained specialists.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Technology Education was carved out of the then Department of Design and Technology in 2013 and designated as Department of Automotive and Electrical Technology with the mandate of preparing graduates to meet the national demand for competent Automotive and Electrical/Electronic teachers, who have the academic and professional skills to effectively teach their relevant subject areas in Teacher Training Colleges, Senior High Technical and Junior High Schools. It is located in the Faculty of Technical Education.
The department became what is now known today as the Department of Electrical and Electronics Technology Education in 2017, after the Automotive section of the department was detached and added to the Mechanical Technology Education Department.
The vision of the Department is to become an outstanding centre to provide higher education in Electrical and Electronics, train and provide teachers with the relevant competencies for teaching and training institutions, as well as foster links between the departments, industry, and the community to ensure the holistic skills and entrepreneurial development of graduates.
The Department is one of the outstanding centres for the training of competent Electrical and Electronics teachers in the West African sub-region.
The administrative office of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Technology Education of the Faculty of Technical Education is located on the first floor of the construction building. It is managed by a very devoted and welcoming Administrator.
