Dr. Frank Yao Gbadago is a prominent and respected figure in finance, taxation, academia, and research. He currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department of Accounting Studies Education within the Faculty of Business Education at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development in Kumasi. Dr. Gbadago has a proven track record of transforming non-performing institutions into strategic assets, including his pivotal role in the transformation of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG), and the former Fabi Timbers.
In addition to his official duties, Dr. Gbadago, a distinguished Senior Lecturer, mentors young individuals and serves as a motivational speaker on entrepreneurship and wealth creation. His academic expertise spans a wide range of business and accounting-related courses, including Advanced Taxation, Finance of International Trade, Corporate Financial Theory, Accounting and Financial Information Systems, Auditing, Financial Management, Financial Institutions & Markets, and Business Systems Implementation. Dr. Gbadago holds impressive educational credentials, including PhD degrees from both the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC). He also holds a Post Chartered Diploma in Oil and Gas Accounting, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, an MBA with a concentration in Finance & Banking, and a Bachelor of Science in Administration specialized in Accounting.
With nearly 24 years of professional experience, Dr. Gbadago is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (Ghana). He has accumulated expertise in financial accounting, finance, administration, operations management, strategy formulation and implementation, internal control policies, payroll administration, human resource management, procurement, and more during his 14 years in various industry roles. In academia, Dr. Gbadago contributes significantly to a variety of courses and engages in academic counseling, student project supervision, and examination administration. He is also an author of a highly regarded book on Oil, Gas, and other Natural Resources Taxation and contributes actively to professional and student journals. Dr. Gbadago’s research interests are comprehensive and impactful, covering areas such as oil and gas accounting, local content and participation within the sector, natural resource taxation, audit expectation gap, tax planning and avoidance, corporate governance, capital budgeting decisions, banking service quality, and fraud investigations. His body of work includes over 30 publications in reputable international peer-reviewed journals and professional journals.
