The Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, paid glowing tributes to the retirees for their invaluable contributions towards achieving the vision and aims of the University, when he addressed the gathering.

He encouraged the retirees to remain faithful ambassadors of AAMUSTED, urging them to still find avenues to champion the interest of the University.  Prof. Sarfo said AAMUSTED would continue to nurture the bond with the retirees, knowing that they had contributed so much to the development of the University and their experiences and impact may be hard to replace. “Your contributions to AAMUSTED would be etched in the annals of this University forever,” he assured them.

In that regard and in line with the conditions of service and policies of the University, Prof. Sarfo announced that AAMUSTED would continue to extend free healthcare support to the retirees and their spouses to ensure they remain healthy into the foreseeable future.

He also announced that the University has established a dedicated WhatsApp platform for retired staff members with the primary objective to provide an avenue for the esteemed Senior Citizens to socialise, promote their welfare, and contribute to staff mentorship.

He said the University would share official communications relevant to them on the WhatsApp platform, hoping that it would evolve into an important place where members would exchange ideas and initiate activities to foster friendship and shared interests.

Prof. Sarfo asked all staff members in active service to see the retiring ceremony as a reminder to them that their retirement is inevitable. He, thus, asked them to commit themselves to diligent and joyful service, treat one another with kindness and respect, and continue working passionately for the progress of AAMUSTED. By doing that, he said they would be securing a lasting legacy while ensuring the University’s continued excellence.

Assoc. Prof. Richard Kotei spoke on behalf of his colleagues, thanking the management and staff of AAMUSTED for recognising their contributions to the University.

He also acknowledged that AAMUSTED has also contributed immensely to their development, and the University has become their intellectual home and a family. He was optimistic that even in retirement, the retirees would continue to find ways to support AAMUSTED’s development.
