The Level-400 Fashion Design and Textile Education Students of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) have donated some equipment to the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles Education (DFDTE) of the University. The items comprised two big-sized wooden printing tables and a light-box for screen printing.
The gesture was a clear demonstration of commitment by the students to complement the ongoing efforts by the AAMUSTED Management to acquire adequate resources to boost quality academic work in the University.
Presenting the equipment, the Leader of the donors who doubles as President of the Fashion Design Students Association (FADSA) of AAMUSTED, Mr. Lordfred Kwadwo Osei, acknowledged the enormous pressure on the University Management to provide adequate resources for improved academic work. Therefore, he was happy that the students could donate to the Department to augment its inadequate provisions available.
Also, he said students were aware that the Fashion Department could do with additional equipment, including weaving looms, printing accessories – dyes and heating/curing machines – and others like embroidery machines for designing.
In that regard, he made a passionate appeal to all past and continuing students of the Department and other public-spirited individuals and organizations to come to the aid of DFDTE.
Meanwhile, he advised beneficiary students to maintain the equipment properly, to last long enough to help academic work in the Department.
Receiving the equipment, the Head of DFDTE, Dr. Josephine A. Ntiri, assured the benefactors that the Department would take adequate steps to ensure the equipment would remain in shape for years to come.
She said the gesture was a good example that other past and continuing students might have to emulate to bring the Department to a standard comparable to the best.
She thanked the benefactors for the gesture and indicated that the donated equipment would greatly expedite students’ practical works in the Department.
