The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has inaugurated two academic journals to provide platforms for scholars to share their research.

The journals – Journal of Technology Education and Applied Sciences (JTEAS) and Journal of Applied Social Sciences and Entrepreneurship Education (JASSEE) – focus on technology education, applied sciences, and interconnected fields of humanities, business and management, as well as entrepreneurship.

Inaugurating the journals on September 4, 2025, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Boateng, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, said the University was focused on positioning the journals as leading platforms for cutting-edge scholarship, empowering researchers worldwide to disseminate their findings and engage in meaningful intellectual discourse.

“I see this inauguration as more than the launch of journals; it is a declaration of AAMUSTED’s readiness to lead in knowledge creation and dissemination. It signifies that we are not only a centre for teaching and training but also a global hub for scholarly dialogue and thought leadership,” he said.

Prof. Boateng said, creating these dedicated mediums for rigorous peer-reviewed study is a matter of national importance that reinforces AAMUSTED’s commitment to advancing TVET education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation for economic development.

He emphasised that AAMUSTED has deliberately made JTEAS and JASSEE as an open access journal to bridge academia and industry.

“We want to offer platforms for scholars, educators, and practitioners to share innovative research to inform policy, improve practice, and foster innovation in society,” he added.

Speaking on the theme “Advancing Knowledge in TVET and Entrepreneurial Education through Open Access Publications”, the Director of E-Learning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Eric Appau Asante, said the inauguration of the two journals signified the future of knowledge in Ghana, Africa, and the world.

He said open access is a justice model that helps the less privileged, who cannot afford the leisure of life, to rise to the level of their counterparts in the developed countries.

Prof. Asante said the uniqueness of the two journals would collectively nurture the engines of transformation: TVET and entrepreneurship, as research will refine skills into industries and knowledge will ensure survival and scalability of businesses created.

“With the launch of JTEAS and JASSEE, AAMUSTED has made a bold declaration that knowledge must be a public good, science must be a collaborative endeavour, and education must be a transformative force,” Prof. Asante said.

On behalf of sister tertiary institutions, Rev. Dr. Isaac Boahen, the Managing Editor of the Christian Service University Journal, commended the University for achieving an unprecedented feat in just five years after its creation.
