The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has organised a maiden Information Day on Digital Marketing for its staff and students as part of activities under the two-year European Union co-funded DigiMarkt Project.

The event on August 26, 2025, drew a large attendance of staff and students, who received in-depth information about the project, including the Project Aim and Objectives, Project Partners, Work Packages and Tasks, and Training Manual Development.

Welcoming participants, the Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, described the event as an important step in the University’s collective effort to transform Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana through digital innovation.

Over its two-year duration, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the project would support teachers and trainers with modern digital skills, improve the employability of TVET learners, establish a digital marketing laboratory in project partner institutions, and strengthen the resilience of TVET providers to meet the demands of the digital era.

Interacting with the participants on the theme “Towards Digital Marketing in Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Ghana”, the national Co-ordinator of the DigiMarkt Project and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics Education (FASME), Prof. Yarhands Dissou Arthur, said the merger of digital marketing and TVET is a direct response to address the unemployment situation crippling Ghana and the global economy.

Prof. Arthur said AAMUSTED’s TVET and entrepreneurship development goals would significantly complement the project’s targets by empowering Ghanaian youth with skills to create high-earning jobs and opportunities for sustainable development.

“As part of AAMUSTED’s leading role in the DigiMarkt Project, the University is the national coordination centre responsible for undertaking social digital entrepreneurship and needs analysis as well as the communication, dissemination and development of training materials and mentorship roles of the project,” he said.

Prof. Arthur said the project is intended for only 250 beneficiaries but AAMUSTED plans to sustain it after its two-year lifespan, hoping to train at least one thousand beneficiaries.

Elated participants described the Information Day as an eye-opener to the projects and interventions the University is rolling out to empower its students and staff to take up proactive leadership roles in addressing the economic challenges in Ghana and beyond.

Among other things, the project would develop comprehensive digital marketing course in six thematic areas with specific course modules in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce for TVET, ICT Skills and Cybersecurity for Instructors and Students, Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Business Planning in the Digital, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics for TVET, Practical Content Creation and Branding, and MSME Digital Skills and Lean Sigma for TVET.

The project would afford partner institutions the opportunity to establish digital marketing laboratories for the training of participants.

The partner institutions are AAMUSTED, the Cape Coast and the Bolgatanga Technical Universities from Ghana, the Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra, Slovakia, and two German institutions, the Steinbeis Beratungszentrum (SBZ) and the Int@E.
