A 24-member Ghanaian delegation, including nine staff members from the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has returned from Leipzig, Germany, after successfully completing the third and final phase of the DigiMarkt Training of Trainers Programme. The initiative forms part of the European Union co-funded project intended at advancing Digital Marketing (DigiMarkt) within Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana.
The two-year DigiMarkt Project, valued at €394,185.00, brings together AAMUSTED, Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), and Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) as strategic partners from Ghana, alongside Steinbeis Beratungszentrum (SBZ), Germany; the Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA), Slovakia; and Int@E, Germany. The project seeks to strengthen digital marketing education, enhance institutional collaboration, and promote research and innovation through the establishment of digital marketing laboratories at each Ghanaian partner university.

Upon completion, the universities will introduce digital marketing as a formal academic programme to help in developing a digitally skilled TVET workforce and create a sustainable model for national development. The project officially commenced in January 2025.
The final phase of the DigiMarkt Training, held from October 20 to 24, 2025, focused on Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participants explored key concepts such as the fundamentals of ML, neural networks, deep learning, algorithm design, and advanced ML tools. Sessions also covered AI prompt engineering, custom GPT models, responsible AI practices, and AI applications in e-learning, content creation, and computer vision.

At the official opening ceremony on October 20, 2025, Dr. Riyadh Qashi, Local Project Coordinator in Germany, warmly welcomed participants and assured them of a well-organised, impactful training experience.
His Ghanaian counterpart, Prof. Yarhands Dissou Arthur, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics Education (FASME) at AAMUSTED, encouraged participants to engage actively and make the most of the learning opportunity. He expressed appreciation to the European Union and all partners for their continued support and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to achieving the project’s objectives.
Prof. Arthur also highlighted the significant progress made by Ghanaian partner institutions, particularly emphasising their successful Information Day events to raise project awareness and the ongoing establishment of digital marketing laboratories.

He noted that all partners had collaborated to develop a locally relevant digital marketing curriculum focusing on six thematic areas: Digital Marketing and E-Commerce for TVET, ICT Skills and Cybersecurity for Instructors and Students, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics for TVET, Practical Content Creation and Branding, and MSME Digital Skills & Lean Sigma.
Describing DigiMarkt as a unique opportunity to redefine TVET for the digital age and empower the next generation with essential skills, Prof. Arthur called for sustained collaboration among educators, institutions, and industry stakeholders to ensure the initiative’s long-term success.
The AAMUSTED delegation included Prof. Yarhands Dissou Arthur; Dr. Jeff Danquah Boakye, Director of Finance; Prof. Doreen Dedo Adi, Head of the Department of Catering and Hospitality Education; Mr. Maxwell Dogbefu, Senior Lecturer; Drs. Courage S. K. Dogbe and Benjamin Adu Obeng and Mr. Oliver Kufuor Boansi, Lecturers; Mr. Alfred Bannor, Assistant Lecturer; and Mr. David Owusu-Antwi, Head of Documentation and Web Management.

The training sessions were facilitated by Eng. Dr. Sergii Kolomiichuk, Project Manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation, and a renowned expert in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.
