The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has graduated the first cohort of 325 beneficiaries under the “Accelerating Change Through InnoVation in Agricultural TVET (ACTIVATE) project.
Two Hundred (200) of the ACTIVATE graduates were awarded Diploma in Education (Competency-Based Training Option), while the remaining 125 received Certificates of Competency in Facilitation, Assessment, and Internal Verification.

They formed part of the 8,165 people who were conferred with Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates at the Fourth Congregation of AAMUSTED from January 20-24, 2026.
The ACTIVATE Project is sponsored by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation, to build capacity of individuals and institutions in Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ATVET), to strengthen social inclusivity, gender responsiveness and market-driven systems in Ghana and beyond.
AAMUSTED’S role is to build capacity of beneficiaries in Competency-Based Training (CBT) and Gender Responsive and Inclusive Pedagogy (GRIP).

A total of 500 participants were drawn from various agricultural-based educational institutions, agric-based hubs, and incubation centres across the country to undergo the specialised training. The remaining 175 are expected to undergo the training in 2026.

The Dean of the Faculty of Technical Education (FTE) and Coordinator of the ACTIVATE Project in AAMUSTED, Prof. Emmanuel Appiah-Kubi, extended special congratulations to the graduates, describing them as a dedicated cohort destined for greatness.
He encouraged them to leverage the competencies they had acquired to develop practical solutions to challenges within the agricultural sector, thereby contributing to national development and advancing the objectives of the Project.

Prof. Appiah-Kubi also expressed gratitude to WUSC and the MasterCard Foundation for their sustained support and expressed optimism for a strengthened partnership between AAMUSTED and the two organisations in the foreseeable future.
