The Governing Council of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has inspected development projects at the Asante Mampong Campus of the University as part of the Council’s 12th Regular Meeting on December 12, 2023.
Led by its Chairman, Mr. Paul Kwasi Agyemang, the Council visited the University’s Yoghurt House, Pen Houses for local and special fowl breeds, the Slaughter House, and the offices of the newly commissioned Asante Mampong Regional Police Command located on the Mampong Campus.
The other members were Nana Bamfi-Adomako, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Francis Boateng, Dr. Joseph Apprey, Dr. Yaw Adu Gyamfi, and Mr. Evans Douglass Salvo.
The rest were Prof. Emmanuel Dartey, Dr. Stephen Baffour Adjei, and Mr. Benjamin Nketia. Also, present were Mr. Augustus Kwaw Brew, Registrar, Dr. Jeff Danquah Boakye, Director of Finance, Prof (Mrs) Magaret Esi Essilfie, Miss Stella Agyapomaa Cobbinah, Mrs, Akua Ahyia Adu-Oppong, and Abena Serwaah Amoatemaa.
Conducting them round the Campus, the Principal of the Campus, Prof. Isaac Abunyuwah, explained that the Foods and Drugs Authority (FDA) had given initial approval for the yogurt production and the University was on course to expand production for commercial purposes. In that regard, he said the University was raring a special breed of cattle to produce adequate milk for the yogurt production.
He also introduced the Council Members to some fowl breeds that take about eight (8) weeks to mature for consumption. He said the University would sell some of them during the Christmas festivities.
Prof. Abunyuwah was particularly grateful to the Governing Council and the Management of the University for helping to construct the Slaughter House for teaching and the production of hygienic meat.
At the Police Command, the Council Chairman reiterated the University’s commitment to support the Police in providing maximum security on Campus and the Asante Mampong Community.
Earlier, the Deputy Commander of the Ashanti North Regional Police Command, Asante Mampong, ACP Bruce Jude Cobbina, thanked the University for providing land for the construction of the Police Station. He said the Command would contact the Management of the Asante Mampong Campus to design appropriate strategies to improve security on the Campus.
