The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has held its Fourth Congregation to confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates on a total of 8,165 graduates equipped with competencies across various fields to support Ghana’s socio-economic development. Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-Nine (4,879) of the number, representing 59.80 percent, were males, and 3,293 representing 40.20 percent, were females.

Twenty-one (21) of them graduated with Ph.D Degrees, 518 Master’s Degrees, 5,701 Bachelor’s Degrees, 1,048 Diplomas, and 877 Certificates.

Addressing the various congregation sessions on the Asante Mampong and Kumasi campuses of the University from January 20 – 24, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, extended hearty congratulations and special commendations to the graduates for their years of diligent study, hard work, determination, resilience, and exemplary conduct.

He expressed confidence in the graduates’ readiness to face future challenges, noting that the knowledge, competencies, and values they had acquired at the University had adequately prepared them to excel in their chosen careers.

“Step into the world with confidence and integrity, uphold excellence in your professional service, impact your communities positively, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana and humanity,” Prof. Sarfo charged the fresh graduates.

He announced that the University currently offered over 160 programs, comprising 96 undergraduate programmes and 64 graduate programmes in TVET and ATVET, STEM, entrepreneurship, and other disciplines.

“These programmes are intentionally designed and integrated with competency-based training, workplace experience learning, teaching practice, and practical attachment sessions to equip graduates with practical and industry-relevant competencies to better align teaching with the realities of the classroom, industry and the world of work,” Prof. Sarfo explained.

The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted several achievements the University recorded in its different facets of life over the past academic year. Among them, he mentioned the sustained growth in student enrollment numbers, increased high-impact research publications by staff, the launch of two academic journals [Journal of Technical Education and Applied Sciences (JTEAS), and Journal of Applied Social Science Studies and Entrepreneurial Education (JASSEE)], as well as an expansion in the University’s local and international collaborations and partnerships to 35 and 25 respectively.

He commended staff for working hard to win research projects and grants totalling $3,217,228.00 and €178,039.00.

He also thanked the government for the continous support it offers the University and cited the ongoing construction of the University’s 3500-seater GETFund sponsored Convention Hall, as an example.

He, however, appealed to the Government to grant special financial clearance to AAMUSTED to recruit additional staff to satisfy the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission’s (GTEC) prescribed student-lecturer ratio.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, underscored the strategic role of AAMUSTED in Ghana’s response to youth unemployment, noting that the University focus on equipping students with practical skills to create jobs, solve problems, and to drive productivity across sectors constituted an important pathway to solving the country’s unemployment challenge.

The Chairman of the Governing Council of AAMUSTED, Prof. William Otoo Ellis, said AAMUSTED’s unique vision of prioritising TVET and entrepreneurship education would alleviate the deteriorating living conditions of the vast majority in Ghana and beyond.

He made a special appeal to the government to give attention to the development of AAMUSTED to equip students with skills to address the existing skills gap by enhancing self-employment and enterprise development that ultimately promotes economic prosperity.
