Dr. Evans Duah, a lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), is one of the 32 Ghanaians selected for the 2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (MWFYAL) in the United States of America. The 32 had to shrug off keen competition in a selection process that involved a colossal 4,000 applicants.
They join 668 others selected from other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa for the 2022 Fellowship Programme, the flagship of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). The consideration for selection was that applicants must be leaders with proven records of promoting innovation with an attendant positive impact on their communities and countries.
The Fellows would be attached to colleges or universities in the USA to improve their leadership skills in various academic areas of their specializations for approximately six weeks, return to their respective countries, and access available support under the programme for further professional development.
Dr. Duah, for instance, has been placed in the Leadership in Business track at the prestigious Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The University’s business school, Kellogg School of Management, where Dr. Duah would have his training, is ranked by the Economist and Forbes, respectively, as the 2nd and 3rd Best Business School in the USA. Northwestern University has a $16.1 billion endowment fund.
The Management of AAMUSTED commends Dr. Duah for this breakthrough, which is a valuable addition to the growing list of his impressive accomplishments even as a young lecturer. The Management wishes him the best and encourages him to keep up the hard work to solidify his status as a model worthy of emulation by his colleagues and the thousands of students he teaches.
The French and English-trained business expert, and a multiple-award-winning former banker with experience in International Business, Credit Management, Project Management, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with Business and Retail Banking experience in Europe, North Africa, and West Africa, Dr. Duah, lectures Strategic Management, Finance, and Entrepreneurship courses at the levels of Bachelor of Business Administration
(BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Master of Technology (MTech) programmes in AAMUSTED.
He is a Chartered Financial Economist (ICCE, USA), Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA-UK), and Chartered Investment Analyst (CGIA-USA). He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance (CILG, USA) and a Member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD, Ghana). Dr. Duah holds a Doctorate degree and MPhil in Business Administration from Swiss Business School, Switzerland; an MBA and a BBA from ENCG-Agadir; Project Management and CSR EFMD CEL accredited Certificate, France; and an EAP Certificate in Financing and Entrepreneurship from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
