The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has matriculated over 13, 000 fresh students into the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
The ceremony was organised separately for freshmen and women at the Asante Mampong Campus on March 5, 2025, and the Kumasi Campus on March 7, 2025, conferring Junior Member statuses on the fresh students.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Frederick K. Sarfo, commended the matriculants for making it through the University’s robust admission processes successfully when he addressed them at the ceremony.
He announced that the University offered admissions to a total of 18,281 qualified applicants out of over 20,000 applications received. However, a total of 13,066 (11,920 undergraduates and 1,146 postgraduates), comprising 51% males and 49% females, successfully registered as fresh students of the University for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The Vice-Chancellor appealed to the students to embrace the opportunities available at the University to improve their knowledge and competence so that their personal growth and the expectation of them to make meaningful contributions to the progress of society and the nation would become a reality.
He said the University was a good place to forge lasting friendships that could open doors to their greatness in the future. Therefore, he asked them to open up, learn hard, and become successful so they would be good ambassadors of AAMUSTED and support her development.
The Vice-Chancellor assured them that AAMUSTED was the ultimate educational pathway to unlimited opportunities, explaining that, as students, they would be equipped with well-thought-through skills and entrepreneurial training to teach TVET/ATVET, STEM, and Entrepreneurial Development in various institutions, bring innovation and improvement at their workplace or go into self-employment, or opening new jobs to employ others.
Prof. Sarfo said the University was making concerted efforts to provide more facilities like modern laboratories, lecture halls, and a mini-sports complex to improve conditions for students’ comfort and convenience while pursuing their respective programmes.
The Registrar, Mr. Augustus Kwaw Brew, led the matriculants to take the matriculation oath, promising to be loyal members of AAMUSTED and study diligently.
