The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), under its Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) Young Farmer Business Academy Initiative (YFBA), has extended support to over 220 farmers within the catchment area of the Asante Mampong Campus of the University. The support involved capacity-building on climate-smart agriculture and providing essential agro-inputs, including fertilizers, pesticides, weedicides, fungicides, and seeds to the farmers.

The move on February 8, 2025, aimed at equipping the beneficiaries to enhance their productivity during the 2025 farming season. That formed part of an ongoing effort under the AAMUSTED-KIC Programme to equip young farmers with the knowledge and resources necessary for sustainable agriculture.

Facilitating the capacity-building session on innovative- agriculture practices, a Deputy Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in the Mampong Municipality, Mr. Emmanuel Baah, provided valuable knowledge on sustainable farming techniques to enable the beneficiaries to adapt to climate change and improve productivity.

In a related development, the Management at the Asante Mampong Campus of AAMUSTED has paid glowing tribute to Cassaclean Solutions and Pistis Neem Plus, two student-led teams from that campus for their exploits in the keenly contested KIC Agritech Challenge, qualifying from the Classic stage to the Professional phase of the contest, scheduled to run from January to May 2025.

Their technical handlers – Dr. Benjamin Danso, Professor Agyemang Badu, and Programme Officer, Mr. Ebenezer Abankwa, led the teams to pay a courtesy call to the Management of the Campus on January 22, 2025, to update the latter about the progress of the teams. They also announced a $2,000.00 cash prize each team had received from KIC to support their preparation for the Professional stage of the competition.

The Principal of the Asante Mampong Campus, Prof. Isaac Abunyuwah, receiving the teams, described their achievements as a reflection of the high standard and entrepreneurial spirit of AAMUSTED. He observed their excellent performance as a testimony to AAMUSTED’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of agribusiness leaders.

“We are incredibly proud of you Cassaclean Solutions and Pistis Neem Plus, for your innovative contributions to agribusiness,” he said, assuring the teams that the Management of the University would continue to support them to win laurels and make AAMUSTED proud.

He also expressed confidence in the abilities of the teams and, thus, encouraged them to strive for excellence in the Pro finals, emphasizing the pride their success brings to the university.
