As part of the expansion of the department, the BSc. Information Technology programme was introduced during the 2010/2011 academic year. This is a fee-paying programme which is run at the Evening session. The Department currently runs BSc. Information Technology Education as the Weekend Session.
The Department of Information Technology Education of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development shall become a centre of excellence in Information Technology and Computer Science education in Africa.
To produce teachers in Information Technology (IT) Education who would promote IT knowledge and skills in all levels of education in Ghana and beyond. This would ensure that future generations of Ghanaian school leavers would be the foundation of 21st century workforce.
The department’s administration consists of the Head of Department, one Jnr. Assistant Registrar and two support staff and four Tecchnical Staff
The Department of Information Technology Education runs full-time, Part-time, Sandwich and Postgraduate degree programmes.

The Department of Information Technology Education has three well equipped Computer Labs where students have practical sessions.
