The Vice-Chancellor of Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Prof. Frederick K. Sarfo, has rallied stakeholder support toward growing AAMUSTED into an internationally acclaimed, responsible, and quality TVET and Entrepreneurial Teacher Training University.
He took advantage of a donation to the University by the Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso Constituency, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, on May 19, 2021, to make a passionate appeal to the stakeholders, especially staff of the University to be dedicated to offering excellent services to clients to guarantee the expeditious growth of AAMUSTED.
The donation included 10 Suiming Led Streetlight bulbs, bottles of hand sanitizers, and about 1000 pieces of fabric-made nose masks. It was to augment the University’s efforts to improve security and safety on campus. The donation was a response to a request made to Dr. Nyarko by the AAMUSTED Students Representative Council (SRC) leadership.
Prof. Sarfo expressed absolute confidence in the capabilities of the individual members of the AAMUSTED Management to lead the University to its expected greatness within a short time.
He alluded to deliberate efforts that the University had started making towards striking solid links with key industry players and institutions and improving necessary structures to guarantee a conducive work environment for staff and training of students into responsible citizens.
Turning attention to donation, the Vice-Chancellor was happy about Dr. Nyarko’s generous gesture, which he said gave meaning to the often touted need for the funding of tertiary institutions to be a shared responsibility among stakeholders.
Prof. Sarfo recalled and praised Dr. Nyarko for the yeoman’s role he played toward the eventual conversion of the former Kumasi and Asante Mampong Campuses of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to a fully-fledged autonomous University called AAMUSTED.
He also commended him highly for his dedication to duty as the MP for Kwadaso and the tireless efforts he was committing to the development of the constituency. He hoped that Dr. Nyarko would continue to support AAMUSTED in its effort to become one of the best universities globally.
The Vice-Chancellor also praised the SRC leadership for the initiative to consult Dr. Nyarko for donated items. He said the move showed their willingness to support management to bring expeditious development to the University.
Presenting the items earlier, the Member Parliament also commended AAMUSTED Management for their dedication and zeal to improve conditions at its campuses.
He assured AAMUSTED of his unwavering support and encouraged students to be focused on their education since that was key in defining what they might become in the future. He hoped that the streetlights would help improve visibility on campus and keep criminals away.
For his part, the SRC President, Mr. Richard Opoku, was thankful to Dr. Nyarko for the donation. While stressing that the streetlights would bring comfort to students on campus when installed, he appealed to the Member of Parliament to come to the aide of AAMUSTED more frequently.
Also present at the ceremony were Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James Kagya- Agyemang; Acting Registrar, Mr. Michael K. Adu; Acting Director of Finance, Mr. Geoffrey Mensah; Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Philip Oti Agyen; and student representatives.
