Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) is not involved in the National Service payroll irregularities. In April 2025, the National Service Authority (NSA) requested that 2024/2025 final year students list should be loaded on the NSA portal for processing towards the 2025/2026 National Service Deployment. The NSA portal provided a template to be completed. Instructions in the letter from the NSA said those qualified to be added to the list should:

    1. be 18 years and above
    2. be Ghanaians
    3. not have been enrolled as National Service Persons in the past
    4. not be students of Affiliate Colleges of Education

AAMUSTED submitted the final year class list in accordance with the template and instructions.

On December 01, 2025, the Deputy Director-General, the Head of IT and the Regional Director, Ashanti Region, of the NSA were at AAMUSTED to verify the data loaded on the NSA portal. The NSA Team did not find anything adverse.

On December 16, 2025, some media outlets carried news in which the Director-General of the NSA reported that over eight thousand (8,000) names submitted for postings had been flagged. The Director-General indicated that three (3) universities, including AAMUSTED were involved in serious irregularities. The news report added that ten (10) staff have been arrested.

We wish to state that no member of AAMUSTED, staff or student, has been arrested.

On December 16, 2025, the Deputy Director General of the NSA, on Metro Television, retracted the presentation that AAMUSTED submitted ghost names.

The records must be set straight. AAMUSTED staff have not been involved in irregularities relating to National Service payroll fraud. Students, prospective students, staff, and other stakeholders should continue to trust in the integrity of AAMUSTED and its staff.

Thank you.
