Ing. Prof. Isaac Monney, Head of the Department of Environmental Health and Sanitation at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has received an award as one of the Ghana’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of forty.

The recognition came at the ninth edition of the FortyUnder40 Ghana Awards held on September 5, 2025, in Accra. The FortyUnder40 Ghana Awards identified, honoured, and celebrated a cross-section of Ghana’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of forty from a wide range of industries.

Prof. Monney was honoured for his leadership in establishing Sterling Heights Academy, an educational institution that has generated employment and transformed education in an underserved community, and for pioneering Ghana’s first car-wash wastewater recycling system, promoting sustainable water reuse and environmental protection.

At 36, Prof. Monney also earned promotion to Associate Professor, making him one of Ghana’s youngest academics to achieve this milestone. He has extensive research experience, with nearly 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles and approximately 1,000 citations to his name. He has also been involved in numerous consultancy projects funded by international development partners, which has earned him a wealth of experience in water and sanitation issues.

In March this year, Prof. Monney was awarded the prestigious Engineering Concepts and Innovation Award at the 55th Annual General Meeting of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE).
