Prof. Sarfo Invested as First Vice-Chancellor of AAMUSTED

A colourful ceremony was on May 26, 2023, organised to invest Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo as the First Vice-Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). Mr. Augustus Kwaw Brew was also inducted into office as the First Registrar of the University.

The Great King of Asanteman, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, graced the event with his eminent personality.

Hundreds of other high-ranking personalities, among whom were the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET, Hon. Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, who was there to represent the Minister of Education, the Honourable Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive Officers, Vice-Chancellors and Registrars from Sister Universities and a special representative from the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium, Prof. Jan Elen, graced the ceremony. Prof. Sarfo had his Ph.D. education at KU Leuven.

There were representatives from key institutions, including the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ghana TVET Service, industry players and entrepreneurs, affiliate institutions, the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, and family members of the Vice-Chancellor.

The Chairman of the Governing Council of AAMUSTED, Mr. Paul Kwasi Agyemang, led Prof. Sarfo and Mr. Brew to swear the oath of office. Mr. Agyemang also helped Prof. Sarfo to settle in the Vice-Chancellor’s seat solemnly.

The side attraction was the popular Osei Kwame Korankye, who offered untold appellations on Prof. Sarfo, the University, and His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The Asante Students Union (ASU) of AAMUSTED electrified the venue as they treated the august gathering to rich Asante traditional drumming and dances. The University’s Brass band was also on hand to do what they do best, with the University Cadet Corps crowning a beautiful ceremony with smart displays that drew spontaneous applause from the gathering.
