With the privilege as the Ag. Director, QAPA, I am honoured to introduce you to our official webpage which serves as a gateway to vital information and resources aimed at advancing the University’s mission and vision.

History
The Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning and Accreditation (QAPA) was established in 2016 as a unit to provide support and oversee compliance with quality standards in the running of the core activities of the University including support services. In 2023, the unit was elevated to the status of a Directorate in line with administrative restructuring to promote effectiveness and efficiency in the operations of the University.
Mandate
The Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning and Accreditation is the university-wide body clothed with the responsibility of spearheading the quality assurance system of the University, including all sections and the various mechanisms designed to maintain high performance standards.
It is mandated to oversee and ensure that quality standards are complied with and maintained in the performance of the core activities of the University including teaching and learning, research and community service, as well as administrative and other technical functions relating to the general operations of the University. The Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning and Accreditation seeks to be a well-resourced administrative outfit capable of safeguarding and promoting public interest and stakeholder confidence in the University in its quest to become a world-class socially responsible Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) and entrepreneurial development teacher education University.
To provide the relevant oversight responsibility and adequate supervision that would sustain and promote continuous improvement in quality standards in the general operations and activities of the University.
The Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning and Accreditation collaborates with other Departments/Sections/Centres and Units of the University to perform the following functions:
- Monitor and ensure quality in the University’s operations;
- Coordinate the activities of Quality Assurance Units in the satellite campus(es) of the University;
- Organise regular training sessions for Quality Assurance Staff/Officers;
- Publish activities of the various Quality Assurance Sections/Units in the University;
- Supervise the various Quality Assurance Sections/Units in the performance of their work;
- Ensure the use of appropriate assessment instruments for the University’s operations;
- Initiate and monitor the review of University policy documents;
- Submit reports on the Directorate to the Quality Assurance Committee; and
- Develop external quality assurance processes; and
- Performing any other assignments that the Vice-Chancellor may deem necessary.
The Secretariat of the Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning, and Accreditation is the administrative engine that drives the daily operations of the Directorate at AAMUSTED. Under my leadership, the Secretariat ensures seamless coordination and execution of all administrative tasks.
At the QAPA Directorate, we are committed to achieving excellence in everything we do. Our role in the Secretariat is to ensure that administrative functions are diligently performed to support the achievement of the mission and vision of the University. Our Directorate is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance throughout AAMUSTED. To achieve this, the Administrative Section collaborates closely with other key sections, including Quality Monitoring and Evaluation, Accreditation, and Planning. This teamwork ensures the effective implementation and oversight of our quality assurance initiatives.
Other roles played by the Secretariat of the Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning, and Accreditation include but not limited to the following:
- Administrative Support: Providing essential administrative support to all sections within the Directorate to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Coordination and Collaboration: Facilitating effective communication and collaboration between the various sections of the Directorate, including Monitoring and Evaluation, Accreditation, and Planning.
- Document Management: Overseeing the management and organization of documents, records, and reports related to quality assurance, planning, and accreditation activities.
- Scheduling and Logistics: Handling the scheduling of meetings, events, and other activities, as well as managing logistics to ensure all operations are conducted smoothly.
- Communication: Serving as the first point of contact for internal and external communications related to the Directorate’s activities and initiatives.
Through the diligent efforts of the Administrative Section, we strive to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement at AAMUSTED, ensuring that all our objectives are met with the highest standards of quality and performance.

With over 19 years of experience in healthcare and administration, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of excellence in managing administrative tasks and ensuring operational efficiency. My career is dedicated to enhancing the quality and performance of educational and administrative processes within the university.
Mavis Kuranchie Boateng, is an Assistant Registrar at the Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning and Accreditation of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Kumasi, Ghana. She holds an M.Sc. in Risk, Crisis and Resilience Management and B.A. Hons. Childhood and Youth Studies awarded by the University of Portsmouth in the UK.
