The planning section is tasked as the hub to support the Directorate of Quality Assurance, Planning and Accreditation (QAPA) and the University as a whole to achieve its mandate and as a baseline for information. For the University to academically and institutionally develop, it becomes imperative that data must be collected, processed, analyzed, stored and maintained and constantly updated.
The Section is responsible for data collection and creation of a central database and policy development. It ensures that information flowing in from all academic units is collated, processed, stored and distributed to management in a form that can guide quick decision-making.
These activities have been encapsulated into formulating and developing long and short -term plans, programmes and projects in line with the Directorate’s objectives and functions; drawing up specific task/ project objects, timetable of activities, planning framework and other guidelines and methodologies in the conduct of disability related activities of the organization; Assisting in project development and management and in planning, executing and controlling the Directorate’s activities within established guidelines and policies are part. Reviewing reports and work assignments of Planning Officers, other Directorate staff and effecting the necessary measures for improvements; and coordinating with other divisions, outside institutions and international organization to integrate plans and activities among other; plans, projects development and management are all activities of the Section.
The Core Mandate of Planning Section (PS) has been fashioned as follows:
- Formulate and develop long and short -term plans, programmes and projects in line with the Directorate’s objectives and functions;
- Draw up specific task/ project objects, timetable of activities, planning framework and other guidelines and methodologies in the conduct of disability related activities of the organization;
- Assist in project development and management and in planning, executing and controlling the Directorate’s activities within established guidelines and policies.
- Review reports and work assignments of Planning Officers, other Directorate staff and effecting the necessary measures for improvements;
- Coordinate with other divisions, outside institutions and international organization to integrate plans and activities among others; plans, projects development and management.
- Data collection and creation of a central database for decision making processes
- Compilation of First Year students’ list from the matriculation register
- Collation and analysis of statistical data on students and staff
- Collection of Data on graduated students
- Data collection on transportation, infrastructure etc.
- Timetabling
- Drawing of lecture timetables for all programmes.
- Drawing timetables for all examination
- Design schedules for all programmes and activities
- Strategic Planning
- Developing and managing long term plans and goals for the university
- Providing data -driving insights to inform decision making of management
- Collaborative Activities
- Collaborate with other sections of QAPA to achieve its mandate
- Serving as a liaison between academic and administrative units and communicating planning information to stakeholders
