Dr. Philip Oti-Agyen is currently a Senior lecturer and Dean of Students’ Affairs at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skill Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) formerly the Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba. He had his Ordinary and Advanced level Certificates (“O” and “A” Levels) of Education at Bekwai SDA Secondary School and Kumasi Academy respectively. He pursued his first and second degrees at the University of Cape Coast in 1993 and 2002.  He obtained his PhD in 2015.  For the past eighteen years, he has lectured in Philosophy of Education, and History of Education at the undergraduate level.

At the postgraduate level, he has lectured in Contemporary Issues in Education, Theories of Educational Leadership and Educational Policy Studies. In addition to his teaching assignments, he frequently interacts with students at all levels in the University. This experience has enabled him to deal with students’ challenges through an effective collaboration with the University Management. As an educational historian and an expert in educational leadership, he has read andpublished quite extensively in History and Philosophy of Education in Ghana and educational leadership. He has a deep passion for reading and teaching and has been a guest speaker in many educational seminars and workshops for both teachers and students at all levels.  He is also an external examiner for various tertiary educational institutions.

Other positions he has held at the University include Ag. Head, Department of Educational Leadership, Examination Officer, and Coordinator for African and Liberal Studies, Member of the Strategic Planning and Monitoring Committee, Member of the Academic Board and Chairperson for Committee in charge of Rolling out Activities towards the Opening of the University Basic School. He is a member of the Committee charged with the writing of the Students’ Handbook for the newly established Akenten Appiah- Menkah University for Skill Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AMM-USTED) which was formerly the Kumasi Campus of University of Education, Winneba.  He is also a member of the Governing Council of the Valley View University and a co-opted member of the Governing Board of Adventist Girls Senior High School, Ntonso-Ashanti.
